Summer Beach Reads

By QLCJamie · June 22, 2011 · 0 Comments · 44 Views

I'm usually anti-chick lit but for some reason, this summer has produced a few novels that I actually do want to read.  And that means a lot coming from someone who constantly starts books (six books, currently) and then gets a bout of ADHD and starts a new one.  Here's my current list:

The Hunger Games: I was supposed to have already finished books one and two for my book club...but that hasn't happened yet.  Part of me wants to resist this series since people are calling it "the next Twilight" but several smart people that I know are saying that it's actually good.  Thoughts?

Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me: I already finished this book.  Truth. I adore, no, I LOVE Chelsea Handler.  I wasn't sure how much I would love a book that she didn't actually write but since it was about her, it was just as funny as her other books.

Summer And The CIty: I absolutely hated (seriously, HATED) the first Carrie Diaries.  I didn't even finish it, it was so awful.  Apparently Carrie finally meets the other three main characters in this novel so I decided to give Candice Bushnell one more try.

Bossypants: Who doesn't love Tina Fey?  Enough said.

Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang

By QLCJamie · March 15, 2010 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

So as you may or may not know, I'm a huuuuuge Chelsea Handler fan.  I die for her blog, her TV show, her Tweets and for both of her books...and now I'm reading her latest- Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang.  It doesn't dissapoint.  In this particular book, I love how she calls out the fact that she hates writing and even tells ridiculous stories about her now-ex, Ted, who just so happens to be the CEO of the E! network.  I'm not quite done yet but my favorite tale so far is definitely when she goes over how Ted went to Hawaii and she decided to stay home to "get some writing done."  She ends up spending several days in her condo, wearing only a bra and panties, stuffing her face with Hot Pockets while watching the Sex and the City movie.  You can't make this stuff up, people.  It's just Chelsea.

Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea

By QLCJamie · November 30, 2008 · 0 Comments · 7 Views

So, as promised, my thoughts on Chelsea Handler's second book, Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. I mean, I didn't actually believe that Chelsea could have even MORE ridiculous stories...but she did. This book delves a little bit deeper than just the usual one-nighters...she also tells ridiculously funny tales about her family. I won't spoil the surprise, but let's just say more midgets are involved.

Chelsea Handler Is My Idol (And Should Be Yours Too)

By QLCJamie · November 25, 2008 · 0 Comments · 7 Views

So in an effort to read more, I decided it was time to finally read Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life. All I have to say is, A-MAZING. She's the female Tucker Max, only, you know, with a soul. Chelsea is with out a doubt one of those women that every women secretly wants to be...but can't let herself. I applaud her love of casual (but safe) sex and the fact that she's comfortable with who she is and doesn't care what anyone thinks. Anyway, putting all that aside, who doesn't love a good midget story?

Next up, her very own Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. Stay tuned for the review.
