So as of late, I've been seriously loving these beauty products. I play favorites, I do, but every other month or so I go through a "omg, I LOOOOVE this" phase and if they're good enough, they might even make it into the permanant rotation. I'll let you guys know how it goes. ;)
Clockwise:
LUSH DaddyO -I've been on the hunt for a really good violet shampoo, which are known for keeping blonde shades from turning brassy. DaddyO is made to help those with blonde OR grey hair to get hair shiny and stop the brass from coming. Miracle worker.
Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss - I've been in love with these since they came out a year or two ago but only recently became obsessed. With a flick of the wrist, the dudes on top get undressed AND the tube even has phermones...you just need to rub it to release them into the air. Seriously.
So last Sunday I had the luxury of getting full-on pampered with friends before the big Lakers vs. Celtics game. It's pretty rare to attend a beauty blogger-only event in LA so I was elated when CoverGirl told me they were hosting a soiree before the MTV Video Music Awards at Byron & Tracey in Beverly Hills. All my LA favorites were in attendance that morning- Sydne from Think thru Fashion, Nadine from Nadine Jolie, Amber from Beauty Junkies Unite, Kristen and Sarah from Total Beauty, etc. and Sydne and I were amped to get glammed up before going to my college friend Scott's birthday/Lakers party later that day. While the girls and I sipped mimosas, Rashida Jones from "Parks and Rec" (and Jim's ex girlfriend on "The Office") got her makeup done for the MTV awards show. What did we think about Rashida? Wow. Not only was she gorgeous, but she's also funny and super smart. It was awesome watching the fabulous Molly R. Stern (CoverGirl's makeup artist) do Rashida's makeup and listen to their funny banter.
So back in my Johnson & Johnson Beauty PR days, I was lucky enough to actually attend the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Beauty Awards which, if you don't know, is to beauty industry what the Oscars are to acting. They're always hosted by the hilariously funny Mario Cantone (Anthony from Sex & The City) and have many celeb guests- this year Kim Kardashian, Whitney Port and Estelle presented at the event so needless to say, I'm sure it was a great one.
When I got the email announcing this year's winners, my heart skipped a beat and I laugh to myself about the fact that I still get excited. Here are my favorites among the winners and you can check out a full list of winners here.
My top winners:
ColorMetrics TouchBack By ColorMark
Living Proof Full Thickening Cream
CoverGirl Smokey ShadowBlast
Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder
Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock Lotion SPF 60+ with PureScreen
So COVERGIRL, one of my favorite brands, is doing yet another awesome contest. They're partnering with NYLON magazine to give customers the chance to create and design a custom decal for COVERGIRL's LashBlast Length mascara! The winner will get the VIP red carpet treatment- a trip to LA for NYLON's big anniversary party in April and your design will actually get produced and be featured in the April issue of NYLON.
So I would say that people tell me how much I look like 30 Rock'sJane Krakowski oh about maybe four times a month and I really do love her makeup from last night's 2010 Golden Globes. Here's how to get the look from her makeup artist, Rebecca Restrepo:
"The overall inspiration was old hollywood with a modern twist. She wanted a chic and modern beauty look to match the look of her dress. I started by prepping the skin with a light moisturizer, then lightly applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless concealer under the eyes using my ring finger followed by COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Foundation all over the skin with a wet sponge. I then applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Blush in Plush Peach with my fingers to the apples of her cheeks for a healthy glow and defined cheekbones. To finish the face, I lightly dusted COVERGIRL Microminerals FInishing Veil to set the look and create a soft shimmer look.
On her eyes, I used COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 4-kit in Sheerly Nudes, applying the taupe shade all over the lid and along the lash line to the crease. I then added a touch of the lightest cream shade to the inner corner of the eye for a subtle pop. To add a bit of definition, I applied a gray matte shadow to the crease. For added drama, I lined her eyes with COVERGIRL Line Exact in black. To finish the eyes, I applied two coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume followed by two coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Length for dramatic, long lashes.
On her lips I applied a shear coat of COVERGIRL Lipstain in Teasing Blush followed by COVERGIRL Amazemint Lip Gloss in No Care Bare to soften the lip color and add just a hint of shine. "

So I'm embarassed to say that I had no idea that more than 4,000 children die every day from diseases caused by unsafe drinking water. This fact is unfathomable considering how much water we, as Americans, use every day and completely take for granted. This is exactly why I was super excited when I heard about COVERGIRL's new campaign- they partnered with the Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) program, an organization dedicated to addressingthe critical, global need for clean, safe drinking water. In celebration of the millions of loyal COVERGIRL Clean Makeup users, they decided to contribute $500,000 to CSDW. A-mazing.
Wanna get involved? You can enter an online contest by submitting a short video explaining how you give back to make the world a better place and why this makes you beautful, both inside and out. Here's the best part- for every entry received, COVERGIRL will provide one week's worth of clean drinking water to a child in need. Entrants also have a chance to win a humanitarian trip to Africa as part of the next Clean Makeup for Clean Water mission. Visit www.covergirl.com/cleanforclean to enter!

So I pretty much love every CoverGirl mascara that I've ever tried. Somehow they manage to continuously outdo themselves every time they introduce a new mascara into the mass cosmetics market. With that said, their latest, LashBlast Length, gives you ultra-long lashes that won't break or flake off for all day impact. The super-length brush is their longest brush ever and gives you expert precision and control that really helps to create individualized, clump-free lashes...the brush is seriously nuts...it has over 450 fine bristles (20% more than LashBlast Volume)!
