So the other night, the lovely Sydne Summer, of ThinkThruFashion.com, invited me to drive down to Orange County with her to attend an amazing charity event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The society's own Woman of the Year nominee, Elizabeth Wahler, hosted the event at her a-mazing Corona del Mar estate and I'm talking breathtaking ocean views, infinity pool, garden, the works. The event auction had some really fab fashion items and Sydne even bid on a sicko YSL bag...but unfortunately, she was outbid! Regardless, we were happy to pose for pics, sip cocktails and enjoy the spectacular view for such a great cause.

So LUSH is pretty much my new obsession and when I heard about their Charity Pot Hand & Body Lotion, I knew it would be an amazing gift choice for pretty much anyone. 100% of the proceeds from this priduct are given to charities around the world that support animal rights, environmental protection and humanitarianism concerns. On top of feeling like a do-gooder, your giftee will be left with a sick hand and body moisturizer that smells like a spring garden. Can't beat that.
So I saw this post on one of my favorite blogs, Smartypanties.com, and had to share. I adore Mary-Louise Parker, Lo Bosworth AND reading. And as for Katie, the blog's editor-in-chief, she is one of those people you meet and just instantly know you're going to be good friends with. I had the pleasure of having drinks with her before I left New York and we discovered that not only do we both have a love of beauty and fashion...but also of Chipotle and designer cupcakes. Next time I'm in New York, we are definitely meeting up for some Mexican cupcake deliciousness! Read her blog!
Cancer remains the number one disease that claims the lives of our children. Each year cancer kills more children under the age of 18 than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined. From August 15th – October 15th philosophy will be donating 100% of the net proceeds of their oatmeal raisin high foaming shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer -- an organization created to raise awareness of and funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer through the concept of hosting local bake sales.
philosophy will also be hosting two local bake sales of their own at their Arizona store locations, and is asking for YOUR help to do the same for a really great cause.
The Cookies for Kids’ Cancer website makes it easy for anyone that wants to get involved in the fight against pediatric cancer by detailing the 4 easy steps you will need to throw a bake sale of your very own (planning, details, bake, sell!).
Good news for any non-bakers (like myself), you can help as well by purchasing the oatmeal raisin high foaming shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath benefiting Cookies for Kids’ Cancer on www.philosophy.com .
So when model Josie Maran founded her organic, natural cosmetics line, she sought to develop eco-friendly products and biodegradable packaging that were safe and healthy for the body and the earth. In creating her new Bear Naked Wipes, Josie took her dedication to the environment to a new level by pledging to donate 1% of proceeds to the Natural Resource Defense Council’s (NRDC) Polar Bear SOS initiative, a campaign committed to saving polar bears and their habitats.
As a result of global warming, the ice is disappearing from under polar bears’ paws. No ice means nowhere to live, and polar bears could become extinct as a result. “The fact that global warming could kill off two-thirds of the world’s polar bears by 2050 is devastating,” says Josie. “It saddens me to think that during my daughter’s and my lifetime, the polar bear species could be completely wiped out. Donating a portion of sales to support the NRDC in their fight to protect these beautiful creatures is the least I can do. I want to raise awareness and encourage people to get involved in protecting our natural resources.”
Created with all-natural ingredients, Bear Naked Wipes are biodegradable, making them an earth-friendly way to wipe your skin clean. A natural blend of aloe vera, chamomile, cucumber and Vitamin E soothes skin as it whisks away dirt and makeup. Josie Maran’s Bear Naked Wipes are luxuriously soft and gentle on sensitive eyes and skin.
